    33x12.5/15 MTR's - useful at all?

No problem, done them to many a land rover. Should not catch wheel arches, but depends on which rims you use, this also determines the amount on loss off turning circle. If you fit those tyres you will be amazed at what ur landy will be capable of. They really are excellent tyres.

    Waterproofing a TD5 Defender

If the box with the electronics is sealed properly with a breather, there really should not be any problem with the electronics getting wet. There is also a water draining grommet between the fender and the air cleaner on the air intake pipe which may suck in water when wading very deep, it is...

Steering advice, ever happen to you?

I have found that adjusting steering box up to much may also cause a wondering problem, when it is to tight the driver tends to over-correct while driving on the open road.

    110 double cab

no angle grinder needed, its all bolts, nuts and like they said a few pop rivets. The biggest task to convert a station wagon into a double cab is to fit the bulkhead behind the back seat, the rest should be straight bolt-off bolt-on.

New to this Board But would like some advice re Defender 110

If you dont mind me asking why dont you just buy a 110 in Africa, as this is where you are going? Then you will only have to pay shiping from africa to US and not both ways. Well it depends on how much you are willing to pay and where in africa you are going. The 200Tdi`s are quite rare in...

    Springs

Yes there should only be two springs. But be on the look out for a complete disc brake axle, it is a million times better than drum brakes.

    Ecu

It does make quite a difference and I would say it is worth your while to change the ECU. You can also look at fitting a bigger intercooler if you are not satisfied by changing only the chip.

    Replacing Thrust bearing+fitting a radio

Hi to fit a radio you need a permanent live and a switched live, if you want the radio to switch off when you switch off the car. It would be advisable to get power from wires which are already fused, so getting power directly from the fuse box should be the easiest.

    curly dash P38

Hi We have had a similiar problem on discovery series I. We have taken a piece of aliminium strip, formed it to fit the the shape of the dash then used counter sunk screws to fasten it into the dash. We powder coat the strips to match the dash. If this is done neatly it looks quite good...

    Diff Lock

When using a Diff-lock in sand it is important to remember that when turning there is no slip between front and rear axle, this causes the 2 wheels with the least traction to dig in. When driving straight or climbing a dune it will help to engage diff-lock.

    Diff Lock

Fitting a centre diff-lock to the Disco series2 greatly improves off-road capability of this vehicle, even though it has got traction control. Another point, it is important to know what this "diff-lock" in a landy is as Chris explained it. Other 4x4 owners tend to see this centre diff-lock as a...

    Seized Handbrake

Just an idea. If it is possible try and squirt some brakefluid into the handbrake drum it will loosen the rust, it works on manifold bolts.

    Which Defender to buy?

Defender 90 nothing compares, unless you want to farm with it. Tdi great fuel economy but if you are after power rather go for Td5.
