Thanks guys, with the 300TDi and tranny taken from a Disco, I think this was just a carry over part. The clutch has worked fine for the past few years. I am going to remove it and see if it is the culprit for the leaking
Cheers

Hey everyone.
Does anyone know what this piece does on the clutch line. Its right in front of the Slave cylinder with a round disc that both pipes go into. I have a 84 110 that went from V8 LT95 to a 300tdi R380. I have had no troubles with the clutch for a few years but now it seems like...

I will try some of the easy stuff first but suspect I may need to open it up. Not looking forward to it
Thanks for the info James. I will research to see how difficult that is to do

looked for info but couldn't find anything. Recent my defender has been difficult to get into first. As of this morning it wont go in a all. Gears are grinding if I try. I started out on 2nd and there is no problems with any of the other gears. And ideas?
Clutch fluid is full and no...

Ok. Have been able to engage diff lock through the help here and now driven with each propshaft on. My noise is still there. I pulled the transmission out this morning and dont see any obvious issues with out disassembling it. Any thoughts on waht I should look for first?
Cheers

James, thanks for the info. When I put a wrench on the diff lock nut in the photo and try to wind it clockwise (which I think should engage the diff) it springs back as it something is pushing it back. Never locks into place. I guess if the lever housing is seized in the unlock position this...

So some easy web searching says yes, now I need to figure out why my hi-lo lever won't move side to side to engage it
-
Brown,
The only reason I cant lock the diff is that there is no lever/switch to do so! I only have the gear lever and the hi-lo lever. I tried the high low side to side but I don't think this is correct, unless it is broken or not engaging (I am just learning on this R380) . I think this...

Thanks for the input guys, I pulled the front prop off to take it for a spin but it doesn't seem that I have difflock, so this makes it a bit difficult........
After looking through the net the 1984-1985 V8 4 speed tranny is the only propshaft that has a different part number (my original...

Also has anyone had a front prop off recently. How tight is it to get back on? Mine almost has to compress 100% to get it installed. When I went from the V8 to the 300TDI I kept the same propshaft.
Cheers

I grabbed the props and pulled them back and forth to check for movement but there was none. I guess it may only move in a certain position or under heavy torque?
Yes the noise is with clutch in and out - no change in noise, but when accelerating it seems to go away. I am really hoping it...
-
Thanks. If it went away when I did this what would the answer be? Sorry. Its my first time with tranny issues
Edit.
1. I guess this could isolate it to the propshaft being dodgy

so this noise has appeared and is getting louder. I have pulled the 110 off the road till I figure out what it is and am going to pull the tranny. Any input on the noise would be appreciated
I have an R380 tranny in a 300tdi
I have checked bearing and propshafts but it seems to be coming...

Hi all
I am putting a 300TDI into my 110 that previously had a V8 in it. The 300TDI is from a Disco. When I put the radiator in, the whole rad and engine seem to sit to high (engine mounts are not welded in yet!)
Can anyone give me the height of the radiator mount from the cross member to...
