I unlocked my Discovery today, using the keyfob, got in drove to where I was going, didn't bother to lock it, got back in it, drove home, got out, tried to lock the doors using the keyfob.............It locked then immediatley unlocked and just to be a pain set the alarm off as well, It did this...

What I have is a wooden skate (5' x 3') to lower the engine onto as soon as it is clear of the car and then i'll work on it on there, only using the crane for actually lifting it in and out.

Apart from the obvious..........get someone else to do it, is there any good tips you guys would like to share on lifting out a 200tdi lump for repair and refit. Cutting out the slam panel is a definate No No, as is taking off the wheels. I brought a CFC100 engine crane from Machine mart today...

What about a core plug letting by, there is one on the back of the head, just below the two heater pipes, they do go occationally, only £2.50 to buy but head off to fit. Get some K-SEAL from a good car spares shop, it's a bit like rad weld but 1000 times better, that should stop it good luck

Yes new head bolts, head gasket, inlet manifold gasket, oil breather 'o' ring, thermostat housing gasket, rocker cover gasket, new thermostat, new glow plugs. cleaned everything with parrifin and stuck it all back together again, surprisingly no bits left over. Gary

I hate to be the one that throws four-star on the fire but, I have a XS model with 120k on it and it has a suspect head gasket, the syptoms are do unlike yours. A lack of power when cold, no smoke from the exhaust, black or white, no water in the oil, no leaks from rad, hoses or heater matrix...
