Ran engine for about 20mins with expansion cap off - red light came on after about 15mins. Hoses getting hot as per before and steam coming from expansion bottle by end. Temp gauge gradually rose but settled just before half-way.
What I did notice was that cooling fans never kicked in at all...

I didn't bleed it after replacing CTS but problem was existing then - I would have expected garage to have done so when they replaced my hoses as they are a reliable lot. However, I will bleed it this morning.

The radiator is hot but I don't think quite as hot as the hoses and expansion bottle.

It was a used box but sold as being for a L series - is there a code stamped on it anywhere I can check? (I still have the old box)
Is it possible to fit the wrong type of gearbox?, are they not different?

Well, got it back with the slave bracket changed but no improvement I'm afraid - the garage themselves noted it was still jumping out of reverse. I'm guessing its new 'box time.

My local (very good) garage diagnosed a faulty airflow meter on my Freelander DI after I reported a sluggishness in acceleration and an increase in fuel consumption.
I duly replaced the part myself as they could not get hold of one that day but I'm not convinced things have improved that much...
