Hi all thanks for the advice.
So the everyone thinks its not the big ends but could be the cranck bearings?
Is it a engine out job to change the cranck bearings ? or is there a way i could check what is at fault?

Good point
I don't know if she is knocking big ends but when she is warmed up and under load she's sounds like a diesel.
Also if I rev up out of gear I can hear quite a solid knocking.
Its not the tapets cause i did them and the are just fine.

Hi I have a 2a 3 bearing 2.25 petrol engine and I think my big ends are knocking.
So my question is.
How could I tell for sure?
If it is the beg ends can they be replaced with the engine insitue?
Is it a difficult job ?
And about how much would it cost?
Thanks

Aye we finished off with a ford for that very purpose but i think the damage was done earlier in the day.
We did no more that 30 miles the whole day but it F*** me shoes.

Nope the two back breaks have at the most about 1mm of pad and I now cant get enough adjustment on the cams to set them up correctly and my pedal takes a couple of pushes to pump them up.
Also a whole load of fine gray slurry came out when I took them off.

Ok after playing in the water this weekend my breaks are now worn out after only 1.5 years , 6000 miles and one days green laining. :(
So I'm looking at a set of new shoes and my questions are.
1. How long would you expect to get out of a set of shoes "1.5 years, 6000 miles and one days...

All clean now.
And it hardly gets warm with everything on (20amp issh).
I think this bit of servicing should be included in the yearly servicing.
It was quick and easy.
Thanks

I have opted to put the long one on the side closest to the diff.
