heater control not working on I and II

Hi everyone, on a recent journey, just bimblin along, i noticed a nasty burning smell in the cab. Thought maybe the old girl was on fire :-) It soon passed, but now i have no heater on 'II' (its never worked on 'I') I've ordered a REZPACK thing from fleabay, and I'm quite deft with a soldering...

Loss of revs! Is this a common issue?

I had the exact same symptoms as you describe. Turned out to be the wiring connector block on the top of the fuel pump. Corroded over the years, and began to randomly fail. Cleaned, squirt of WD40, job done. Hope this helps, Russ

    New plugs...what a difference!!

Hi all, posted a thread a while ago about my FL 1.8 Had an odd rough running sensation when cruising at motorway speeds, and then flooring it to overtake. Not exactly a proper 'mis-fire', just a sensation of a lack of power, and rough running. The AC DELCO plugs had done around 20,000 miles, not...

    FL1 body fixings

Hi all, anyone know where I can get hold of the black plastic snap fixings...the ones that secure the wiper mechanism cover below the windscreen. Also need the two rubber things at the end of the cover next to the bonnet hinges! Hope thats not too vague!! Cheers Russ

My freelander is in the twilight zone!

    A 1.8 petrol? with a soft back?

newbie can anyone help me find my first freelander

FL's with good bodywork are generally easy to find, unless, of course they have been really abused. They dont suffer from rust, as a rule, so maybe, as Skynet says, look for one with a blown motor... When i got mine, the paintwork was really horrible. It had been parked under trees for most of...

newbie can anyone help me find my first freelander

Hi Matt, like you, i've had 2 Mg's, an 'f', and a 'TF', also a ZS. I too love the 'open top feeling', so when i hooked up with my current partner, (and her young son and 2 dogs), the sports car had to go. I bought a 1.8 millenium edition, 3 door. Paid £100 on ebay for an immaculate soft...

    Soft top

Oh yeah, that too!! Also you may get a soft bag for storing the windows. Not difficult to fit, just a bit fiddly the first few times. Cheers, Russ

    Soft top

You should get the 2 side windows, 2 side finishing trims, 2 rear brackets, and a red key. You should also get 2 self locking pins. The side finishing trims are important, without them the wind noise is quite loud. The rear brackets mount either side of the rear door (lock in with red key)...

    difficult to explain.....

But here goes..... 1.8 FL1 'W' plate 2000. Engine in perfect condition, no rattles, no coolant loss, no oil loss etc etc. Now, at cruising speed on motorway or similar, lets say 70mph, just touching the throttle to maintain speed, the motor is quiet, and very smooth. Approach an incline, or try...

Individual cylinders run rough when cold

    Is it losing any coolant?

    Just lost all power

Hi, had exact same symtoms on my 1.8 petrol. Advice on this forum was to check the fuel pump, located in the top of the tank, under a plate in the rear floor. Checked the connector block, and 2 of the terminals were green with corrosion. WD40, wire brush...no problem since! Hope this helps, Russ
