how have you lifted the suspension?
-
I have installed one of the kits, brilliant. I actually haven't mounted the switch and left it on the leads. I can then pass it through the door jamb and watch so I can get the height correct for coupling/uncoupling the trailer. I just coil the wire up and leave it in the glove box when I'm not...

Kick Down cable is wrongly named, yes it does do kick down but it is also how the gearbox senses throttle position for normal changes.

Thanks, will look in the morning. I have had a windscreen leak on the N/S so depending on just where the ecu is it could have been for a swim.

Thanks will go hunting, Haynes told me it was drivers side!

Done all the hoses and replaced the vacuum pump:(

it does have edc - didn't realise the cruise was controlled by the edc - will investigate further. Thanks

Hi
Does anyone know where the cruise ecu is on a 1997 300tdi auto please.
Haynes manual says drop the panel below the steering column, done that, cant see an ecu!

I think the socket only works when the alternator is charging, well its like that on my D1 which has the suplimetary socket kit fitted.

Varta has a 4 year guarantee

I got a Varta just before Christmas. Halfords wanted £112, went to Andrew Page and got the same battery for £75.

I have a 2004 TD4 auto freelander and a 1997 300tdi auto disco. It horses for courses. I bought the freelander to replace my Mundeo as an everyday car and it has done that faultlessly for the last 3 years and has been brilliant in the snow. If however I want to use my trailer with weight on it...

Might be worth trying with the filler cap off in case the tank breather is blocked.

Just paid £166 with Sureterm Direct for my 1997 300tdi auto no mods for me and her indoors. We both have other vehicles so I don't know how much difference that makes.

Although they call it a kick down cable it does more than that. It is the kickdown cable that tells the gearbox the throttle settings throughout the speed range, pre leccy boxes off course. So throttle position and road speed tell the box what gear to be in.
