Intermittent brake squeal AFTER changing discs and pads

My money is on the anti-rattle shims touching the disc where the tab inserts into the carrier. Good luck!

    crank timing pulley removal

Thanks for the info. I just managed to get a puller leg behind the gear and lever it off. Looks like the person who tried before gave up after battering the gear ;-) All back together now, so I will wait and see if the puddle reappears.:crazy_driver:

    crank timing pulley removal

Hi, wondered if anyone can help me please? I have an early 1.8 petrol freelander 1 and want to replace the leaking crank seal pulley end. I've got most of the gubbins off, but am now struggling to remove the timing pulley from the crank. Any suggestions please? Or is it a case of hit it...

new to freelanders brakes hot on front

Hmm , released all the stuck pins and pistons, but still get a seized caliper 'banging' noise after long descents. I will check back brakes but any quick suggestions would be much appreciated Thanks all.

    TD4 Knocking/clunking under braking

I have exactly the same problem. I suspect the front calipers are seizing up and have given the pins a good dose of wd40 and freed them off with a g-clamp to wind the pistons back in.. also check if the back brakes are working as if not, the front can be overloaded on long descents... Or...

Actually I'm not that stupid, I've got a degree in engineering and could probably build a better vehicle than the freelander, but I am stuck with it this year and appreciate your help with what seems to be a somewhat fickle vehicle.. I will put it on proper off road use and see how it goes...

    New to freelanders

Hi I have just bought a freelander 1.8 petrol and before you all gasp in horror, it has been through the head gasket, cam belt prop shaft window regulators etc that I have read about, and it cost me £850 with 12 month mot. Happy days no doubt, ho, ho, ho. To be fair seems ok so far, front...

Hey guys and Gals, new to the Hippos and need help please!

OK Please call me stupid (ok ignorant would be better) and hit me with a stick for being stupid, but do Freelanders make weird noises when using HDC and various other slow manouveres, or is something wrong. I have heard this noise at slow speed approaching traffic lights, engaging the HDC and...
