Hi just buught an old freelander in good condition, but front brakes are getting really hot. Any ideas welcome please

caliper pins probably stiff, seized or bent, you should get it checked out.

It could be that the rear brakes aren't working at all and the front's are doing all the braking.

hot = skin off fingers. warm = can press on fir a couple of seconds. Cool = nice to warm tour fingers up on. Which?
as suggested caliper guide pins or crusty pistons.
mine had a stuck piston and within ten miles the wheel was skin off and smoky brake pads.

Hmm , released all the stuck pins and pistons, but still get a seized caliper 'banging' noise after long descents. I will check back brakes but any quick suggestions would be much appreciated
