Hi, wondered if anyone can help me please?
I have an early 1.8 petrol freelander 1 and want to replace the leaking crank seal pulley end. I've got most of the gubbins off, but am now struggling to remove the timing pulley from the crank.

Any suggestions please? Or is it a case of hit it with a tapered wedge?

First off lock the crank with a locking pin in the "safe" position. The pulley should come off easily once the bolt undone. If it's stuck then a puller is the safest tool to use. If you are going to use a lever then be careful as the oil pump casting as thin and easy cracked!

Thanks for the info. I just managed to get a puller leg behind the gear and lever it off. Looks like the person who tried before gave up after battering the gear ;-)

All back together now, so I will wait and see if the puddle reappears.:crazy_driver:
