    help with engine decision

Depends on the amount you have to spend and what you want to do with it. Land Rovers are not sports cars, never will be. If you want to race your mates round the car parks of Sainsbury's then as seanmoore2006 says, buy yourself a CAR. If you want to offroad and can afford the petrol, you...

    Changing Glowplugs

Hope all goes well. One problem I found with mine was that when tightening the new ones they gripped the link lead, the old ones had seperate washers which prevented this but the newer ones came with moulded ones.

    Changing Glowplugs

You don't hang around. I got mine from this guy Land Rover Diesel Glow Plugs Brand New on eBay, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 300137527952 end time 08-Aug-07 19:54:17 BST) But alternatives are: FF000622 from FamousFour.co.uk £4 each

    Changing Glowplugs

Hi Pos, Have recently replaced mine (2.5 TD 19J). Yes, 4 plugs needed. Really easy to do. Once changed keep on for 10 secs and then turn engine over. Don't forget to put either Copper Grease or Ceramic Lube (available at Gatwick Distribution Services) on the thread of the plug before...

    Tyre amount

Just want to get a general opinion. Do you buy 4 or 5 new tyres at a time?

    What did I do wrong?

I only say lucky because I can't see anything but the bottom right corner of the starter. I can't see the cable let alone the connector. I think the fact that I found the cable and not got my LR Mechanic to change the starter is quite lucky.;)

    What did I do wrong?

Hi Jason, Not really square one. I now know how to remove and fit glow plugs with my eyes closed. I now know that when you own a defender you will spend more time fixing it than driving it. I now know that if you fix one thing it breaks another. I also now know that if someone has a problem...

    What did I do wrong?

Ok. Got home, battery fully charged. Stuck it back in. Nothing. Took fuse box apart, checked all wiring. Fine. Changed all Glow Plugs back to the original, gave starter motor a tickle with my fingers and tried again. It burped at me. So it showed signs of life for a millisecond then back to...

    What did I do wrong?

Just put the jump pack on the landy, no change. Although it didn't crackle when putting the clip on, which it usually does. It's now on charge, the charger said 50% then went to 75% after 2 mins. The saga continues.......

    What did I do wrong?

Hi Charles, I have not managed to do anything yet. I do understand what you are saying, but maybe the fact that all I get is a clicking relay when I try to start it mean that there isn't enough power in the battery to turn the starter. Before I take out the glow plugs, which i was advised...

    What did I do wrong?

This has really given me food for thought. Thanks Jason.

    What did I do wrong?

I didn't manage to do anything yesterday, but am wondering if the battery has not got enough power. I read your 1st post about not needing the glow plugs to start it, and am thinking that you could be right, it started straight after fitting the last glow plug on Saturday but now nothing...
