I have had two issues that I had not thought connected:
1) Screech under load between 2 and 2.5 k revs
2) Coolant Loss with no apparent leaks
Have read up about exhaust manifold warping etc for the screech as a possible cause and also head gasket issues for the coolant loss.
Did a bit...

Hi all,
Prior to a long drive to Spain a few weeks back I decided to replace the brake fluid as it had no been done since I acquired the vehicle some years ago and the brake pedal was felling a little spongy. It has new discs and pads front and rear.
I replaced with DOT4 and all was good so...

Got it off, just had to use a bigger BFH in the end! Taking the whole step off definitely makes it easier.

In the process of replacing the strut on the retractable rear step. The nuts spun off fine but I downt seem to be able to budge the strut from the threaded stuids on the step, even with a light tap from a BFH or a bit of leverage. Am I missing something or could they just be seized together with...

Ah ring spanner. Trust me to have a 17 and 19 but no bl@@dy 18 lol. I'll get a spanner and also the nuts (links were supplied without). Given the state of the nut and thread looks like it'll need grinding.

I need to replace one / both rear ARB drop links. Went to do the job today and cannot undo the lower (axle) fixing. The nut turns but so does the ball joint! The is a torx socket in the end of the ball joint bolt - is that there to fix the bolt in place so the nut can be undone? Its seems odd as...

When slippling in the new (OEM not poly) bushes would using heat on the radius arm / panhard rod / other and popping the bish in a freezer remove the need for pressing them in?

How much movement should i expect with the rear anti-roll bar links? With the car on the ground on its wheels, I can 'rotate both'. With the nearside one I can rotate with just fore finger and thumb. The offside link is much harder to 'rotate'.
Just wondered if this is a sign of wear or...

I stripped the front near side Brakes at the weekedn to see if there was an obvious reason fro a light pull to the left under braking and sterring wobble under braking at 50mph.
All cleaned and lubed and no obvious problems but I did notice the disk retaining screw was missing. How much of an...

Hello All,
I want to check all the bushes in my TD5 and have a couple of questions:
1) Can anyone point me to the location of all the bushes (Suspension and Body)?
2) Just how much play is normal or indicates they need replacing?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

I never knew this and its great advice. I am achieving 25mpg on average with an 11 mile each way commute through lanes - always in D and rarely if ever get above 55. I'll try using 3rd to see if that makes a difference.

Hello all,
I'm in the process of nailing down a fault on the front offside (three bloody amigos ) and today stripped the brakes and disk to get at the sensor and give it a clean. While in there I notices that the steering knuckle looked a bit fouled with oil and dirt (the near side...
