    Ipod adaptor for Discovery 2 TD5 ?

A thread from the dead indeed- almost five years ago....! I never did find an adaptor, and my dreadful Discovery went on its way three years ago- it was the worst car I ever owned, a box full of trouble; one great feature among many of its idiosyncracies was then when it rained, all the...

    Another warning light

Thanks, I'll get it done with the diagnostic check in the morning. Gdb

    Another warning light

Started the TD5 this morning, just setting off, and the gears evaporated, got the orange <engine problem> light, no gears would engage, and the tiny red lights by the gear shift were flashing. SO, I turned the engine off, waited a few minutes, started it again, it all seemed in order, so I...

TD5 auto gearbox oil temperature light

Hi Dave, All is good here in La Vienne, ta very much, hope you're well. Yes, I've still got it, it saved us again this last winter, starting and stopping most impressively when all the little peugeots and renaults were finding their rightful place in the ditches.... And you guessed right, the...

TD5 auto gearbox oil temperature light

To avoid any confusion I should emphasise it's the gearbox oil temperature light.

TD5 auto gearbox oil temperature light

I had the gearbox oil on my TD5 auto changed not too long ago- the car's performance changed from sluggish to lively, a marked improvement. Now after about 1500 miles I have twice had the oil temperature light come on just as I got home, after driving on relatively short journeys. I'll take it...

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

Sorry, didn't answer your questions - the ipod unit fits on to the back of the head unit, so I will be keeping it, and as I've been told there are no compatible CD changers now available, it will be replacing the CD. There's a big explanation on the car audio site about how they work. G

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

I haven't even bought anything yet, I'm going back to London next week and plan to buy the kit- there are two available on the car audio site, one from Alpine, and one from Harmon Kardon. When I spoke to the very knowledable bloke on the phone he said the kits could be fited to any car, and that...

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

That was funny, I pasted in the internet address of the car audio shop - which turned into a one-line ad on the message; when you click on it it opens their page. Is that clever or more Big Brother??? g

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

WIth the help of the local garage I got the radio out, noted the model and number- an Alpine unit - and called the car audio shop, only to discover that a replacement CD unit is no longer available. So I can change the entire system- they offered me a cable adapter for the HK amplification...

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

Thanks Discool and oldzed, I eventually found a manual with the old car papers that tells me it's an R990, probably made by Alpine, but the man at the shop is insistent he must have the exact model number, so, I'm looking for two bits of metal that can unlock the unit from the dash so I can pull...

    Disco TD5 radio model identification

I need to change the CD player on my 2001 TD5. But the retailer needs to know exactly the brand and model number of the head unit. It's a LHD French market car, with the Harmon Kardon system upgrade - nothing in any of the orginal handbooks relates to the radio fitted in the car, so, does anyone...

TD5's - are they worth it?

I bought my almost top of the range 2001 TD5 auto almost three years ago - every twiddly bit and extra save satnav, and was initially impressed, until it started to go wrong. It's an export model, so a bit tarted up, I live in France, where Land Rovers are a religion, and they keep their price...

    Headlamp beam deflectors for Disco

I can only speak for France as I live here, so to reiterate, the only legal requirements to have with you are the car papers, your licence, and the high visibility jackets, I have to add the GB plate to that, but everything else is recommended. Have a look at the AA web site for the latest list...

    Headlamp beam deflectors for Disco

I'd buy deflectors - as the man in Calais said, the police don't care until they pull you over. Tape is illegal, musts are the car papers, driving licence and high visibility jackets for everyone in the car - everything else is recommended, not compulsory. The authorities are hot on...
