Long term putting it off... Low Power at Low Revs

Well, the EGR is pretty clean, moves ok. How about fuel pressure, what failures do you get with the pressure regulator? The fuel pump isnt the quietest but not noisy per say.

    Normal temperature for Coolant

Mine sits fairly steady at 80-85 from memory last time I did a log with nanocom. That was after a new thermostat too. Depends on your enviroment though and how hard the engine is having to work. Where are you from?

    Gearbox removal

On both the 300tdi and the TD5 I've dropped the gearbox off the engine. Not too bad a job as long as you have 2 x 12" extensions to get a socket to the top two nuts for the bell housing. Never looked at removing the engine but clearances look a little tighter on td5. I'd be surprised if it wasnt...

New member with Discovery 2 questions

    1. The ticking sounds like a relay hasnt got enough power, you hear it quite often on cars with half dead batteries but if yours is starting fine i'd say maybe a dodgy earth somewhere. The plastic panel to the outer side of the footwell hides an earth stud on each side of the car. worth checking...

Long term putting it off... Low Power at Low Revs

Evening all, Its been a long time since I posted here. Found many a helpful TD5 Disco related thread, thanks for those by the way, really saved my ass a few times! However, I've never found anything which quite matches what I have had for the last couple of years. So, I bought this 2003...

Could it be this simple? Coolant issues

I had a few issues with mine when it was air locked. Water would be cool in one part of the system and boil in the other. Its a bit of a faff to get rid off a bad air lock as the header tank is lower than the top of the engine. The below procedure works really well although it does take some...

    300tdi Manual Gearbox issues

Bit of a strange one i cant get my head around. Ive got a 1995 Discovery 300tdi with an r380 gearbox. The gearbox oil was changed ealier in the year about 6,000 miles ago. Since then i have extended the gearbox breather up into the engine bay in prep for routing up the snorkel when i get that...

    European trip disco

Ouch! Cam belt issues are never good! Its worthwhile making sure the right tensioner and pulleys have been used. Make sure you use the newer type with a flange on the side of the crank pulley. I had a load of hassle getting the right bits for mine. Do a search or two on here and all will be...

    Warming the old girl up!

Sounds about right to me, Dam cold drive to work for the first few miles. I am looking at a water temp guage to get a more accurate read out of whats going on. After i have that i can play around a bit more and see the effects. I did wonder about putting a bypass on the oil cooler. Fraser

    Bleeding water system

Heya, I thought they were supposed to self bleeding but ive never managed to get that to work, I'm always left with air in the system Try this, ive used it a few times now and seems to work ok. 1. take off the tank cap 2. undo the cap on top of the thermostat 3. fill through the thermostat...

    Windscreen demister poor

When you say poor, is it not getting hot enough or does the window not clear very quick? I had that last year. Mine was getting hot but not clearing very quick. Turned out the wheel arch was leaking and the passenger footwell was soaking. Any large amount of water inside the car and the amount...
