Bit of a strange one i cant get my head around.

Ive got a 1995 Discovery 300tdi with an r380 gearbox.
The gearbox oil was changed ealier in the year about 6,000 miles ago.
Since then i have extended the gearbox breather up into the engine bay in prep for routing up the snorkel when i get that fitted and finished.

3 weeks ago during the hot weather i had a 200 mile drive. After reaching destination and checking out my mates project landy, i discovered a load of oil spots on the spare tyre on the boot door. After investigation i found it was all under the car and was coming from one of the extended breather pipes.
I checked the oil level in the gearbox, diffs and transfer box. Diffs and transfer box were fine but the gearbox oil was like strawberry milkshake and the level was about 50mm too low (aprox 1.5L too low).

With the oil being milky I assumed I'd had some water sucked in before I'd extended the breather line. This water along with the oil would have ment the fluid level would be too high, so when it got hot on a long drive and hot day it would spit some out. Seems logical so i didnt worry too much.
I changed the oil and made sure the level was right thinking that would be the end of it.

No such luck! It did the same again last friday on a 180 mile trip. It blew out oil and the oil in the box all milky. Ive changed it again for now but cant find anything online about what could be causing this.

Any Idea's?

Thanks, Fraser

milky is water usually ,though you could be using poor oil, water can come from condensation or water entering through front/rear seal and around gearstick
