    Towing a series 3

It is bog standard, the dolly is braked and the towing vehicle is OK The other factor we have to consider is how to keep the front wheels lined up and will they toe out or in when being pulled backwards etc?

    Towing a series 3

I am looking to buy an 88" Series 3 and will tow it to off road events. Can I tow it with the rear wheels on a braked dolly and the front wheels on the ground with the free wheeling hubs disengaged, the transfer box and main box in neutral rather than drop the drive shafts at the diffs...

    Play in steering

Gents Could I please confirm that the nui and allen key mentioned is the one on the top of the steering box as you look down onto it when standing next to the offside wing? I've WD40'd it as it didn't want to move and then had a pause as I noticed that the allen key seems to be filled with...

    300TDI cruise control.....or not!

Oh I see so the clutch and brake pedal switches mentioned are dump valves and not electrical switches? EDIT I've found my copy of Rave and see they act as both. Aha eureka moment!! Right time to find pipe and replace. What length/diameter will I need? Thanks

    300TDI cruise control.....or not!

I have the same problem. My confusion is. I can only see reference to one vacuum hose from the pump to the actuator so why the T pieces? Where else do the pipes run or could I replace it with just one continuous pipe from pump to actuator?

Changing the glow plugs in a Disco with Aircon

Happy new year. Now that reality is back I am going to try to fix the few niggles on my 1996 Disco 1 Es auto. Firstly it's a bit slow to start in this relative cold so I am going to change the glow plugs and hear that as mine has aircon I have to remove belts for the compressor and loosen that...

    Front end panels

Unfortunately SWMBO rear ended a car in our 1996 300tdi Disco this afternoon and it seems I am going to need 2 wings, bonnet, front panel and bumper. Any ideas where the best place to get used parts is? I live in North East London on the Essex Herts border. Thanks in hope Jon

    Ticking injector pump

When you locate it do not try to undo the plastic tap at its base it will probably break. Get a 11mm spanner and undo the nut at the top. This will allow the whole pot to drop down including some diesel contained within as my hair discovered!

    Ticking injector pump

I've changed the filter and cleaned out the sedimenter which had a lump of muck in it and all seems good. Will keep an eye on it. Also no missing above 3000 rpm. Thanks to you all. J

    Ticking injector pump

Beddyman, Exactly that, very tappetty type sound. I will do filters and sedimenter and see if that helps Ratty, Not sure. I will have a look at the vac pump as well Thanks both, keep tuned!! J
