Happy new year.
Now that reality is back I am going to try to fix the few niggles on my 1996 Disco 1 Es auto.
Firstly it's a bit slow to start in this relative cold so I am going to change the glow plugs and hear that as mine has aircon I have to remove belts for the compressor and loosen that off and shift the hummel valve!!
Are there easy workarounds before I bash m y knuckles and break mt "no swearing" resolution?

Secondly can I get rid of the EGR on an auto as I did on the 1996 manual one I had before SWMBO wrote it off (still not over it!)?

Thanks in hope

Jon

You can remove the EGR on an Auto with no problems.

On mine I remove the cover over the compressor, undo what bolts I can and just swivel it out of the way and you can just get the glow plug out with all the pipework undisturbed. The belt on mine has been removed as the compressor is seized.

+1 swivel it out of the way, mind you I have just ripped my air con out, then its really easy to change the glow plugs.

As its an auto try starting it in Netural, mine works a lot better that way and I have no idea why.
