I was afraid of that, so far I just threw cash at hoping one of the fixes would work because they weren't particularly expensive but a new, even second hand turbo is a lot of cash to throw at something that might fix it but I don't see that I have much of a choice.

Thanks Alibro, I didn't check the crank pulley to be honest, I'll double check that at the weekend to. Camshaft pulleys are set correctly, they are currently both central and the crank pulley about half a tooth advanced (maybe a fraction less). Even if it is a timing position problem the cam...
