Hi guys I could really do with some help diagnosing this one. Bear with me there are a few problems and I'm not sure whats relevant and what isn't. I recently I changed the disks, pads but after doing it I noticed a coupe of things one of which is definately new the rest of them I couldn't say.
Anyway first thing I noticed was a clunking noise going into 2nd gear, nothing major and I just put it down to another weird noise the disco made, at the back of my mind I thought maybe clutch/release bearing but I have both waiting to go on when I can motivate myself to do it so I'm not overly worried worried about that (other than maybe actually having to fit it....)
Later on there was problem when I accelerated hard, it was there was a rough grinding noise, general opion in the searches I did was U joints, they looked OK but they were the none greasable type so I've ordered some anyway to be on the safe side.
The last problem was a bad juddering when I pulled away in 1st, doesn't happen in any other gear, doesn't happen in low ratio and its fine when it gets going. Again a quick search and most replies to similar problems on the forums is contaminated clutch, which might make sense but the clutch never slips and it will bite till the car stalls, it only judders when its fully released and pulling away.
Found that one of the calipers had siezed and the brake was on permenantly so I got new calipers and jacked all four wheels to see if anything else was going on. I can turn the prop by hand, there is some play but nothing major, did the usual checks turning the wheels, started up and put it in gear the prop turns, but only 1 front wheel turns at a time. I was hoping it was the brake but take of one caliper and that side spins in gear, take off the other and the opposite spins. The side thats stationary turns freely by hand its just ne getting any drive and when I take it out of gear the staionery wheel spins backwards a by about a turn and a half which surely isn't normal?
So I am now at the point where I have no idea what I'm looking at and I get the feeling I'm chasing the error diagnosing the symptoms in isolation. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
