Hi all,
So I have this long standing non issue with my 03 1.8 Freelander, that I don't know if I should be worried about....
Ever since I bought it and no matter how many times I clear it I always have a P0480 Fan 1 Control Circuit error on the Hawkeye but I don't have any issues with the fans or cooling. They both kick in when they should and I can manually switch them on with the Hawkeye and I've never had an overheating problem (even with a HGF).
Is there anything common you guys know of or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and and troubleshoot the loom? I've never done it because it all works but I know I should probably get my lazy ass in gear before anything does actually fail.

There's an old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". ;)
TC P0480 is a generic fan control fault code. I can't see why the Hawkeye is finding the code. As far as I remember, the fan controller is a dumb unit. It takes battery power and feeds this to the fans, depending on a simple PWM signal from the engine ECU. The fan controller doesn't have a data bus to communicate back the the engine ECU, so can't flag a fault itself.

Is it kicking up an engine warning light or just something that you can only see when you attach the code reader?

Its only on the code reader, I always thought it was a symptom of the HGF but now that's more or less sorted it was just irritating to have it come back up.
