Hi all Just bought a td4 Freelander, excellent condition , but it seems sluggish, feels like turbo picks up at 3000rpm , after that it goes like a rocket . Any ideas what it could be? Thanks in advance

Haha, good advise! Even if I accelerate gently, say if im at 70 mpg, it still pumps out smoke. It seems to be in relation to how much fuel is being delivered.

OK, figured out the hissing, Basically the wastegate actuator was seized closed, too much pressure in manifold and the noise was the blowoff working correctly :). So no, Ive only got the black smoke problem on hard acceleration. Any ideas? lol

No, not melted, and it doesn't feel like theres any play, but it looks like the gasket is buggered lol

Hi all. Been getting a smokey exhaust when applying load for a bit now, performance seems OK though, but today, I was working on the engine, I started it, and smoke seemed to come from under the turbo for a second! Has the gasket on the turbo gone to cause this? Pic is of the car JUST...

How very odd, I get a hissing sound from that side of the dash when I hit a high boost pressure, And ive also noticed my coolant going down if I have the heater on. Very interesting.

Spoke to someone at C&A 4x4 yesterday, and they said it could be either something to do with the cruise control from the old engine, or the blower system?

Bit of an update. The hiss seems to come from INSIDE the dash, not the engine bay, and its at the far left, almost coming from the air vent!

Rattle found, its the bonet.... that is all... LOL

Isuzu engines are the best! :P
