yay! MAF sensor problems!

Good morning all.

before i beat the **** out of my hippo and arreseted for animal abuse, can someone please point me in the right direction on this.

OK. Basically, Maf unplugged = good performance , MAF plugged in = ****ty performance.

Have tried 2 bosch MAFs and a ****ty ebay 20 quid job MAF, All present the same issues. Im tempted to just run it with the MAF unplugged and roll the coal on acceleration!

In my experience, cheap EBay MAFs don't perform correctly. It's strange that a genuine new Bosch isn't allowing full power to be delivered though.

You don't have any tuning boxes installed by any chance?

The 2 Bosch MAF you tried were they brand new? and were they genuine ones which only come with the whole unit, Bosch do not supply just the inserts, a BMW MAF can be used at a lower cost around £80.00 as opposed to original Bosch £130.00, with the BMW one you take out the insert and add it to the your unit, but remember removing the insert voids your warranty, as above do you have a Ron box ? if so it will not work with a Bosch MAF you would need a pierburg maf.

Do you have any warning lights when there is lack of performance? Any fault codes stored ?
