Thanks for all your advice guy's,
I think I understand now. So I'll get a straight throu exhaust then re-tune the engine to get the mixture right.:)
Cheers...

Hi,
My exhaust has finally broken up on my series 2 SWB and I'm thinking of getting a straight throu stainless one made up at a local exhaust place.
It's fitted with a 2.8TD daihatsu engine and I was just wondering if I would have any problems with not enough back pressure using a straight...

I recently had problems with my daihatsu diesel in series 2 landy. It was stalling all the time and lacking any power. I changed the fuel filter tonight and found it was half full of brown sludge! Think I might have rust in the fuel tank!
I put some injector cleaner in the tank about a month...

Thanks for the advice CharlesY, I will certainly not drive it until the problem is fixed!
I forgot to say earlier it's a Daihatsu 2.8TD engine with an old style japenese voltage regulator (relay type). The model is AVR583-12v.
I suspect it might be this at fault rather than the alternator...

Hi Guy's and Gal's,
I've had a problem on my series IIA. The charging light came on and I presumed it was probably worn brushes in the alternator. I was halfway through dismantling it when I noticed that the main cable back to the battery had a corroded connector. Cleaned it all up and the...

I'll take a look for the wading plug when it stops raining! There again I might need it soon if the weather gets any worse.:(
I'll check the exhaust mount to. It does seem like a mount has gone somewhere, just knocks a little and rocks the vehicle slightly when you switch off. I have a 2.8...

Hi Copper Grease, thanks for the advice. I will give your driving position a go and report back! To be honest the vibration on the gearstick isn't too bad and I suspect its probably just wear and tear on the gearbox over the years. The reason I thought it might be an engine/gearbox mount is that...

Having now fixed my propshafts which were about to fall off, the old girl is driving really well. However I still have a couple of annoying niggles. :(
The gearsticks still vibrate quite a bit as does the steering wheel and the clutch judders for some reason when pulling away in first. It...

Thanks for all your replies so far.
I started work on it tonight and the first thing I discovered was that the prop shaft on one end was only held on by two bolts. One of those didn't have a nut as it must have sheared off!!
I checked each of the joints and there is play in a couple of them...

Yes, it does now I come to think of it. It seems pretty bad at those speeds but then when you let off the gas to slow down it does get worse!!

Would the UJ's be enough to cause such extreme vibration then? Are they easy to check and change over? (I'm fairly new to series landy's)
Thanks

It occurs all the time at those sort of speeds. Also it vibrates a reasonable amount just in normal use, but I thought that was a land rover thing!

I seem to have some really bad rattling and vibration on my Landy at speeds between 30 -45mph. Everything starts to vibrate and resonate like mad! I had a look at the weekend and realised that the bottom of the door pillar has come away (rusted) from the main chassis. I also noticed that there...

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has already replied to my previous posts, but I have a new problem which can be quite annoying. When I go to start the engine, turn the key but nothing happens. Keep turning it off then back to start and wiggleing it a lot. Eventually it starts! Just...

I'm just sorting out a few things on the landy (SIIA) and have a prob with speedo which fluctuates up and down a lot when driving. It seems to get worse the faster I drive. Any ideas? Is this likely to be a cable or the speedo itself at fault? Also it doesn't seem too accurate but I put that...
