Cheers, much appreciated. So any autobox from a 4.0 P38 will def be ok, but we're not sure about the 4.6. I can now start looking. I wouldn't go for a manual anymore, not after experiencing the auto.

It had no drive, not sure about the oil though... The mechanic is my best mate so I trust what he's says, as in he's not ripping me off.

Not sure exactly what it is, but he mentioned that both clutches are shot, and the cheapest option may well be a reconditioned box. I'm running a bill of a few hundred pounds already to get this far, I would imagine a box replacement or repair will be well in excess of a grand? I just cannot...

Hi I've tried that as well and it was the same, it would pull away for 20 or 30 yards and the same would happen. Switch it off and start again and its ok for another 30 yards, but there is always a grinding sound.
