Yep, I'm in the AA & that was going to be my last resort if I can't get it open by tomorrow night. Not sure they'd come out though as it's not actually a 'breakdown' as such - it doesn't prevent me driving the vehichle - I just can't get the BLOODY bonnet open .

I pulled the lever under the dash & nothing happened - it was slack - got pliers on the inner cable & tried pulling, there was some resistance but nothing happened , pulled harder & about 4 inches of cable came out & the end came unclipped from the lever. So now it looks like I've got a cable...

replaced my oil 4 weeks ago with castrol magnatec diesel 10w/40 - got it from a mate who bought it several months ago from halfords (£50's worth) & then he didn't need it - he asked me if i wanted it for a tenner - thought about it for about 1/100th of a second & said 'YES PLEEEEAAASE'

my 2001 TD5 ES takes about 8-10 mins in current cold weather - real pain cus it only takes me 5 mins to drive to work !
