    freelander td4 dieing on me

Hi, I started a thread (TD4 Power Loss when pulling away ) ages ago, There seemed to be many people with similar problems, I don't know what the underlying cause was with mine, as I got rid of it (back to a LR dealer)before it killed me or my family, LR didn't have a clue when I was trying to...

slight vibration/rumbling on td5 auto at 2000 revs ish /auto gear changing

Yup, let us know if you ever find out what is causing the vibration, I had this on an 04 plate TD5 auto, I always believed it was something to do with the torque converter not being balanced, although dealer wouldn't even acknowledge that there was any vibration / noise. I had a look through an...

    oh my god thats petrol

Well, as you have now driven a fair way with petrol in the system,(I presume, with no noticeable effect although the fuel pump may have suffered some damage from lack of lubricant), and you have diluted it considerably with diesel, it sounds like you may well have got away with it. I think you...

    Disco3 bike rack

Have a look on e bay under 'Discovery 3', I'm pretty sure Yeovil L/R do a bike rack for these.. ( They sell quite a few accessories from their e bay shop, or you can contact them directly). Personally, I use the L/R towbar mounted bike rack (only takes 2 bikes though).

    Discovery 55plate TDV6 Auto

If you really want one, get an auto, as an awful lot of people with manual boxes are having clutch problems at pretty low mileages, and are having to fight with LR over whether this is a 'normal wear and tear' issue, or a 'clutch not up to the job issue'. LR warranty is too 'iffy' in my book...

Discovery 3 Headlight conversion for continental motoring

Does your D3 have halogens or bi-xenons, the halogen lights have no adjustment and you would have to fit beam converters, the xenons can be altered by moving a lever behind unit, you may find you have to remove light unit to do this. ( Handbook tells you about it, I'm sure)......

TD4 power loss when pulling away.

Hi, I am not saying that this will fix your problem, but it may help to narrow things down a bit,as this was the underlying problem with my TD4, try taking off the vacuum pipe to the egr valve, which is the valve with a metal diaphragm at the front of the engine on rhs as you look at it,near the...

    Clutch Advice please

Hi, it could also be the clutch master cylinder playing up , they seem to be a definate weak point on the td4 at any rate, usually the whole unit has to be replaced, but i don't think its too much of a job or too costly. Certainly a lot less than a complete clutch change.

    oil help

Hi, I think I know where the oil may be leaking from, on my td4 one of the allen screws that holds the plastic cover on near the oil filler cap, had oil all around it, and the threaded hole that it goes into goes right through the cam cover. ( ie it is not a blind hole), and it allows eng oil to...

TD4 power loss when pulling away.

Hi, in reply to coxby's post above, the washer fluid can leak from the plastic pipes supplying the w/screen washers, depositing it right on top of the engine and gets to the injector area and corrodes them in,causing a great deal of grief (as explained by coxby),if they ever need to come...

    Clutch pedal

Hi, I have heard of this happening quite a lot, if its a TD4 it usually means clutch master cylinder needs replacing ( before it lets you down totally),if its the older diesel car, clutch operating lever shaft can start to seize where it goes into bell housing, try lubricating with wd40 or oil...

    Stratstone Landrover-Problems

Hi, which branch of Stratstone's are you talking about, if its High Wycombe ( formerly Wooburn Green), I'd have to agree with you, and probably say never let them near your vehicle ever again, and certainly don't buy from them ever again.Rgds.:)

    Disco 3 Nightmare.

Yes I have driven another tdv6 a l/r assistance one in fact, and listened to some others and they do not have the tapping noise that mine has,but it was not at the dealers at the time. The dealership I have been to is the one I bought it from.

    Disco 3 Nightmare.

Thanks for your replies guys, but oil level has never dropped while i've had the car unless it was thrashed before delivery to me, and the dealership say they can't hear anything untoward, and no faults show on diagnostics, all the usual B-L-S-IT that i've come to expect of L/R dealerships. I...
