Thanks both.
I manually operated the latch using a screwdriver but the latch just releases.
This is the same on both the old latch and new one I bought.

Hi all,
I have a Freeland 1 2005 td4.
For some reason the tailgate won't latch. The window drops and you hear the solenoid work when you press the outside handle but when you close the door it bounces back open.
The latch won't catch to lock the door.
I have replaced the entire outside...

Hi Arctic2 thanks for the info.
I only had the collars round the wrong way. Could not find any photos on the web so you photos were a great help.
Much appreciated

Hi all.
I am rebuilding the engine and have put the head / cam cover back on but when I tighten the injector clamps to 10nm All The injectors are loose?
I have put new copper washers on but all the injectors move up and down by approx 2-3mm.
Is this right?

Looks like I need number 5. Any ideas what it's called or where I can get it from.

Hi all,
Putting the Freelander back together.
Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket between the metal turbo and plastic MAF pipe ? (Below the air box/rocker cover)
Mine appears too loose and don't think it had one (if it is supposed too)

Thanks Nodge68 I have got one.

Hi all,
I broke my td4 2004 cam cover taking the injector out.
The local breakers do not have any Freelander's but has some Rover 75's with the td4 engine.
Are the cam covers the same ??

Hi Andy.
Thanks for the reply. Looks like I will need to buy a timing kit then.
I will download RAVE.

Hi. How do you release the tension on the upper chain to change the cams/head gasket?
Hopefully you don't need to take the engine out to get to any bolts!
The car is a 2.0 td4 2004.
Also do I need the timing kit to reset it?
Thanks

Can my one recommend a workshop manual?
I just need the procedure to replace the head on the freelander with the torx settings.
Thanks
-
Well I thought you might say that !
If I change the head how easy is it. Do I need to re-time it or is it a case of setting to tdc and replace?

Previous owner broke the glow plug. Now it's disintegrated, car broke down and the car is being recovered back home.
No thread left as it has been butchered. Anyone know a person who can drill and helicore an new one in the head nr Ashford in kent ?
Thanks

Well eventually got it to fit in the pipe with a lot of effort, works well so far.
Just a note for others who attempt it. put the pipe in boiling water first and use lots of silicon !!!

Thanks, will give it another go tomorrow (its technically today now!!)
