Wife went to the local LR Indy this morning and was told that the propshaft UJ at the gearbox end is stuffed. I will take a look for myself when I get home but good news if it is as she was quoted £15 for the part + 1 hours labour to do the job.
The gearbox is 3 months out of warranty so I hope...

Driving to work this morning my 300 TDi Auto started squealing like a stuck pig. I thought it was a belt slipping but when I got to work and put the car in neutral it would rev quite happily without a hint of a noise.
On the way home this evening the noise became much louder. I opened the window...

My 96 300TDi Auto has developed a strange knocking noise whenever I switch the engine off. When I switch the engine off and the old diesel lump shudders to a halt you can briefly hear a metallic knocking / clanking noise much like the exhaust hitting the engine. Over the past few weeks it has...

Hi Mark you were spot on. When I got home tonight I double checked all of the fuses again and read your post about the switch. I removed the switch and pulled the plastic collar (it surrounds the plunger) right out. It is on a ratchet and sets itself the first time you put your foot on the...

I've just been outside to check the fuses. It's snowing so I only did a quick run over all of the fuses with a multimeter but couldn't find anything that was blown. I found the ABS fuse in the panel under the steering wheel but that was fine.
I'll have to keep digging.

Thanks Brainboy, will do. Would a duff ABS fuse stop the brake lights working as well or is that a serperate problem?

2 days ago my ABS light came on about 1 mile from home. I parked the car (1996 300 TDi Auto) on the drive and left it overnight. Yesterday morning I couldn't get it out of Park to reverse off the drive. Searching this forum I found that it could be caused by a faulty brake light switch. I...

Thanks for the offer Boldor but I have ordered a new regulator already. I didn't want to hang about as the rear window is being propped up by a piece of wooden batten at the moment. Not the most secure or weather proof solution.

Thanks for the reply Discool. Seems a waste to have to buy a complete regulator just for the sake of a little plastic washer.
Oh well.:(

My NSR window dropped and wouldn't close. On close inspection I found that the plastic bush that sits in the channel has snapped in half disconnecting the regulator arm from the bottom of the window glass.
The regulator mechanism and motor are fine, all I need is the plastic or nylon bush. Are...

My Wife called me at work today to say the Discovery was making a loud rumbling noise. When I got home I found that the rear propshaft coupling had destroyed itself. This is the 3rd one in 6 months and I guess it is down to the fact that the Disco is lifted by 2 inches.
My Discovery is a 300 TDi...
