My Wife called me at work today to say the Discovery was making a loud rumbling noise. When I got home I found that the rear propshaft coupling had destroyed itself. This is the 3rd one in 6 months and I guess it is down to the fact that the Disco is lifted by 2 inches.
My Discovery is a 300 TDi Auto, is it possible to get heavy duty couplings that have been designed for vehicles that have been lifted?
Also, having done a search on this forum I have read posts about swapping out the original propshaft and rubber coupling for one from a 200 TDi as this doesn't use the rubber doughnut. Is it ok to do this on a Disco with an auto box?

what rubber couplings are you using as replacements? ive had mine lifted for 7 months now and my origional LR rubber coupling is showing no extra wear than when i did the lift. its about due a replacement but having the lift doesnt seem to have accelerated the wear factor, certainly not to the point im worried about it

i have a 200tdi prop with brand new OE (hardy spicer i think) uj's fitted and greased, 4 bolt flange and diff seal if your interested.
it's all new parts exept the prop it's self, it's all ready to go.
i was gonna fit it on my disco but sold it:eek:

pm me if your interested
