    poly bushes

Fitted Red Polybush set to my 110" 6 -7 years ago, still as good as the day they where fitted. Well worth the money. For a Rangie might go for softer set. They only did red when I changed mine, did it that long ago. If you do change the bushes, do one front radius arm at a time. Took both of on...

    Grind while heavy braking?

If you have to do an emergency stop in a vehicle with ABS, push the clutch down with the brake. Non ABS vehicles you leave the clutch in to use the engine to help stop the wheels from locking, pushing clutch just before you stall. On ABS vehicles the wheels won't lock. If the clutch is still...

    Buying first Defender

Hi, Defenders are good for learning about vehicles, it is all basic mechanics. You will need a good socket set that goes up large sizes, 27 - 28mm ( 1 inch + ) at least. There are some big nuts on Defenders. Get a good set of axle stands with a large base, 2 tonnes rocking about in the air...

    Fuel gauge?.........

Just a thought but, have you checked that the voltage stabiliser for the dashboard gauges is still connected the the fuel gauge. If it has failed or come off the gauge will read the output of the alternater as it changes i.e, the faster the alternater turns the more volts produced, the higher...

    TD5 towbar electrics

Try looking inside the vehicle at the back on top of the drivers side wheel arch/ seat base, under the small rear window. There should be an angled plate fixed to the rear panel. Remove the panel the connector should be in there.

    Newby to the Defender 90

Hi, yes your 90 is permanent 4WD, all 90, 110 and Defender models are permanent 4WD. It should say so somewhere in the owners handbook. You only have 2 gear levers instead of the 3 you had in a series vehicle. The short stubby lever controls the HIGH and LOW range selection AND the DIFF LOCK for...

    Air Suspension Or Lack Of

I have not got air suspension on my vehicle , but I the place I work has an H.G.V workshop on site. I have seen them change the air spring on a truck in 20 minutes from start to finish. Air springs are alot easier to change than coil springs. If you lift the vehicle up and support it on stands...

    200tdi into 300tdi engine swap-please help

A quick thought on your engine swap. I think 300 Tdi's where mated to the R380 gearbox, 200 Tdi's mated to a version of the LT77 gearbox. Don't think the bellhousings can be swapped from one 'box to the other. You may need an adapter of some sort. Worth checking before commiting to swapping engines.
