Exactly - high security door locks, now we need a 16 yr old car thief who would have them off in a jiffy :)

I'm going to have another go tomorrow.

Thanks, I found a simpler solution in the end but it probably won't work again!

The problem happened to me again recently about a month ago, same rear drivers side door, wouldn't unlock or lock with the remote fob or via the master dashboard lock switch.

Eventually out of frustration, I locked and unlocked the doors about 15 times with the button on the dashboard and then I tried the door handle from outside to find it was working perfectly again and has been ever since. Go figure?

A few weeks later I found my rear tail gate door is refusing to open, when I attempt to open it, the rear windows drops a little, I hear something from inside the door when I squeeze the handle but the rear tail gate door won't open at all.

I took it to the farage a while back for this problem and they said upon inspection the cable had stretched over time and it needed a new one, but they were supplied as part of the entire locking kit which would cost me about £230 or something like that.

Two problem there then.

First one sounds exactly like the problem I was having. I recomend that you get a can of WD40, with the straw fitted and direct the juice into the lock where the catch is visible, but direct it upwards on the inside of the catch plate. That is the best way to get to the problem area without stripping the door.

Seconds problem. Had that one myself. Solution. Get access to the boot space. Drop the window an inch using the dashboard switch. Rip the interior cover off the door by brute force. Identify the wire to the lock release solenoid. Use two 9v PP3 batteries in series and connect positive to this wire and negitive to the door frame. Door opens. Now with access to the wire loom in the umbilical, I identified the problem area and instigated a repair. All sorted. A new wire loom is a bit of an overkill, unless the loom in the umbilical is totally wreaked.

Happy Hippoing,

Dave
