Read passenger door - unable to open it!

Hi all,
I have a problem with my rear passenger (driver's side) door on my Freelander 1.8 Xei 98R. About 2 weeks ago, it wouldn't open from the inside or outside but I can see the little button inside going up and down when I use the remote key fob or interior master central locking switch. I thought at the time it happened because I accidentally tried to lock the car before someone had closed a door on the other side and I thought it had somehow gone out of sync. Sitting inside with the doors closed and using the master central locking switch a few times seemed to fix it and it was fine for about 3 days.

Since then, its now permanently locked or seems to be. I can hear something electrically operated and moving inside the door when I use the remote keyfob to lock/unlock the car and the switch behind the window goes up and down but the darn thing won't open from outside or inside the car!

I wonder of this is something I can fix or do I have to take it to a garage?

it sounds like you have a loose connecting rod, you need to open the door to get the door panel off so that you can see where the problem is, does the locking knob go up and down when you press the fob

maybe the q needs to be asked - has the button stopped moving or duz it still go up and down?

Think yella's reet on this ,if yer can get the door open, undo the door panel, carefully undo the plastic sheet,un ave er look ,make sure all the guides are in the retain slots, and all in place, the dead lock is operated by a solenoid and these suffer from earth sticktion, spray wiv loads er wd40 to see if yer can free it up ,if not you will have ta buy a new un. . . .best oh luck. . . .

Look the old git said it opens now un again from inside, so i fort if he could git it open jist once he could then ave er look at yella's idea, un then [cos i was tryin er elp] smirk ,put in er nuffer solution to the problem ,offer wise e will have ter tnt the bleedin door orft, mrs ming say's she could elp wiv the last bit, or jist drive it in er puddle, the doors normally fall orft then. . .un thats true cos slob say's so. . .so thats it i'm not gonna go on un on bout this any more. . . .just ta say that unuf is enuf. . .reet that all i got ta say on it. . . .sept that wd40 do's elp . . .well sometimes. . . .well mostley really. . . .

The Mad Hat Man hit the nail on the head, although I got it to open the first time, its defeating me totally now! I just can't get the door to open for love nor money, it hasn't opened for about 2 weeks. If I can, I will certainly get the door panel off and take a look. Just to confirm, yes the little door button moves up and down when I lock and unlock the car, but the door is tighter than a nun's a$$.

Reet . . .yer dead lock is stuck or broken, unfortunatly yer gonna have ta undo the side panel from the inside, i myself have never done this. . . .so best oh luck. . . .

Crimbo you tarts, Silly question season has just started I've had me door card and bits out today, cos my drivers door won't unlock with the plipper, but does wit t' key...where is the bleedin solenoid & whats it look like? Paynes manewhell is better as bog paper these days...
