Hello to you all out there, this is my first go on the site, still not sure what I'm doing, but normally get there in the end, so please bear with me. I am enjoying my Freelander TD4 2002 on a 52 plate. Have started running on bio-diesel. So far so good, anyone else out there have experience of it. It has been suggested to me that after a while it would be good to change the fuel filter, but I cannot find it. Haynes manuel says its on the bulkhead, but its not. Have read some previouse entries on the site that suggest it may be above rear wheel arch, had a look under, cannot spot it yet. Can any of you good quys out there help please, and give me some clues on where to look and how to get to it.

Many Thanks

When you checked the bulkhead as the Haynes manual says, did you look underneath the L-shaped black plastic box in which you have the ECU etc. sitting ?? (See pics.) Think the filter at the rear wheel was from year 2003 on, but n ot sure-sure about this, as yours is a 2002 it 'should' be in the engine compartment.

Hello,

I own a 2003 Freelander td4 and I have the same problem, I can not find the fuel filter. For sure it is not in the engine compartment. Does enyone now where it can be located?

Thank you,

its on the right hand side bulk head its fitted into a black type tube undo that and filter inside that

Thank you,

I found it! After couple of hours on forums, somebody give me the clue that is located on the back side of the car, driver side back wheel. Of course on my EU car driver is on the left so, i removed first that wheel. Bad luck. I had to remove the right hand back wheel and the plastic cover. It was not so easy to extract the filter from the plastic cover. By the way, anybody nows what is the other black plastic container near the fuel filter which has a drainage screw?

It's called a sedimenter to collect any debris. It's suppoesed to be drained every time you change the filter.
