Hi friends,

Anyone got some smart tips/tricks on how to rstore the glossy black shineto my freelander bumpers?

USed back to black (simoniz) so far after a power wash.. It looks fab, but wears off after about a week or so.. Ive seen some posts regarding smearing used oil, peanut butter and a whole host of other things on them?? Does anyone know if this works..

I dont mind re applying stuff, but id like to do it a bit less frequently than one a week!!

I use the simoniz stuff, paint it on thick with a paintbrush and leave to set. The first few times you do it it can go streaky and fade quickly but soon enough it stains the bumpers black again, and they look great. I do mine about once every 6-8 weeks now and they always look black and new.

loads of stuff out there and everyone prefers a different one to another.... i use autoglym bumper care and use it on everything black on the outside...bumpers, door handles, roof bars, filler cap, mirrors etc etc lasts a couple of months, good stuff that leaves a nice satin sheen....

I use Meguires trim clean from Halfords.. next best thing to natural oil..last about 5 washes before you need to apply it again

That's brilliant stuff,it always brings the trim up like new and lasts a good while!

Thanks for all the top advice chaps..

Ive chosen to order some autoglym bumper care off ebay... When im waiting for that to be delivered, im gonna give it the linseed treatment tomorrow too :)

just be patient and wait for the ag stuff to arrive...not sure how it will take over the linseed oil so save that for your cricket bat lol :p

take it easy with bumper care stuuf cos if you put too much on it can leave a few streaks where the water has run off when it rains or you've washed it

hi all i use wait for it---------Banana skin the inside of course try it before you mock it do it once and leave then next day do it again then leave alone for a hour or so then use a hard brush the scrubing type is best and after that wipe it down with a damp cloth it looks great and cost nothing if you like banans

WOW!! The freelander looks brand new!! Its exactly the same as my freelander, except my bumbers are nowhere near as nice as that!!!

The autoglym stuff still hasnt shown up..

So, lesson learned.. as soon as i finish work today, im getting some linseed oil and applying it!!!

Optimus prime sure is right if your results are anything to go by!!!

About 2 years ago I had the same problem as you my bumpers were gray. I tried using back to black every week and it always faded. I then found a product called "forever Black" it was about £12 delivered. to this day my bumpers are still black. fantastic product and really easy to apply.
