H to N reg disco? 2 questions.

Hi all,

1. Am I right in saying the 200tdi, is in discos up to N?
P is the 300tdi? ( thats 2 in one, counts as one:D)

2. What is a good price to offer for a J reg no mot, 129000 miles 200tdi, starts it now and again, being used as a shed at present. Matey reckons he's gonna put it back on the road, bla bla, been sat for at least 2 years?:confused:

As you can guess I feel I need a 200tdi soon to replace my TD
I want to offer 200 niks to the feller, but on first contact with the man he didn't seem that arsed about selling it, but I reckon a nice cash incentive will coax any clam from her shell.
I am only gonna have one go at getting my prize, if I keep pestering him he may think I fancy him:eek:
So gotta geddit it right, to small and he will and he will feck me off straighaway to high and..well obviously I want what he's got for as little as possible;)

Im pretty sure the 200tdi was replaced by the 300 in 1994 (at M reg i think!)

I looked into it when i was buying mine. I ended up getting a 93' engine :)

We had an earlyish N reg Disco, that was 300TDi.

Not sure, but I think they became 300 when they introduced the larger headlights and did a general facelift. The inside was changed then too.
 
1994 discos can be 200 or 300 depending on the time of year they were registered. Remember there will have been some stock floating about in dealers so there could be 300s registered before the last of the 200s. For what it's worth if the bloke lets you have it for 200 quid he's a mug they're fetching 450 to 500 on ebay every day with engines on their own selling for 250 quid odd.

Yeah I suppose I am thinking to cheap, and I have seen em on ebay for around that mark. I suppose buying the complete disco, rather than just engine off ebay, I can hear it running, and got all engine ancillaries ect.
Maybe I'll offer £350, 200 is to cheap, bit of an insult really.

you just missed out on a mint 300tdi! £500 needed 6 matches welded for mot. i thought that was over priced for what you wanted it for.
my mate bought a disco with 4mth mot and tax with 200tdi in it for £175. he did get lucky mind. so i would say £200 is about right if everything works!

Matey does reckon the engine is good, his neighbours say its been there for years!
He said he was thinking of taking it to his small holding and use it to move stuff. But i reckon it'll just rot there till kids get in it and wreck it:mad:
Spotted 2 today in Newton abbot, well kingsteighton, got excited, asked the man about it, both deisel but engines gone, bought for a fender!!
but he did have a rangie V8, I was tempted:p
 
i think i know that man!!

what you want is to buy a heap off someone who doesn't want it and is planning on scrapping it, but isn't in the 'LR fold' so doesn't realise it is good for defenders. I may have sourced 2 engines for you. just finding out a price.
considering i paid £925 for my 90 with a 200tdi conversion, PAS etc already done to it i would never pay more than £200 for a disco for the engine.

ebay is no good, too many other defender owners!

i had a disco 300tdi given to me before i bought the defender. didn't appreciate its value and scrapped it. food for thought...

Might need to get meself a trailer to bring it home, if it was tidy looking I was gonna drive it home:p
naughty i know but easier. oh well me old omega will have to earn its keep:)
