i thought i'd had my fair share of dodgy landrover moments but today my S3 decided to catch fire! something behind the dash went up in alot of smoke, luckily it calmed down when i abandoned the road switched it off, had the fire extingisher out just in case though!

looks like some part of the indicator circuit caused it as they went all wonky (would just go on and not flash or cut out randomly) so far found one blown 35A fuse (my indicators have two of these wired in series  ) not found anything melted or burn yet...... the flasher unit looked ok. the wiring's a bit weird though as its had an engine conversion and its got other crazy hi-tech stuff like hazard warning lights that dont exsist on my S3 wiring drawings! ah the joys.........

i'll go get a clean pair of pants on now.............

time for a quiz:

tell me what with is and u'll win a prize!!!

no prizes saying its broken or burnt!!!

looks to me like some kind of relay, it only had two wires to/from it, one green/yellow one from the Hazard Warning light switch and a green/brown to the indicator/hi/low beam/horn switch on the stearing column. my S3 wiring diagram says green/brown is for the horn and green/yellow and the hazard warning light switch dont exist......

looks like an German indicator unit with an extra contact fur use with a trailer warning light.

4 contacts -
live 49+
vehicle warning lamp C
indicators 49o
trailer warning lamp C2

it shud have an earth contact in the centre tho. maybe the case is the earth.

half the part number is missing! was thinking "nicht werfen" might have been the name in german but apparently it means "do not throw" do germans have a tendency to throw electrical parts around like??

ffs Heidi - duz no-one believe me on here!!!!?

I TOLD YA wot it is!

it fookin shows yu the bluddy lights n all. - C and C2 go orf to warning lights on the dash and 49o goes orf to the indicator switch.

just to clarify, i too concurr with marcus' concurrance about concurring wiff you . aswell as concurring wiff the idea that you need to keep yer pants on

shirley if we concurr to agree consecutivly then the agrement would last longer..
so to clarify ... concurrent agreement = short.
consecutive agreement = long
