Surrey greenlanes?

Off roading a P38 is NOT a brilliant idea! Way to many electric bits, and they break enough on the road let alone off it. If you want to start off roading, Save up / Buy a cheap Discovery (Check for rust!) or a 90/110 if you want to push the boat out further

Utter tosh!If its gonna break might as well break it off road!You dont say that to people running series motors or classics and there old and just as prone to busting. Everyone on here seems to have something to fix so why not fix a p38?!

P38 parts cost more and they are a hell of alot more complex than a Classic or a Series, Added to the fact it has a computer system to rival NASA's that does not like water.

p38 parts cost more than wot?Are complex but classics and series arer worn and tired so should they not go off road?You shouldnt go off road if you dont wanna fix anything, and ive been off road with a p38 which delt with water better than my classic.

That depends entirely on wht you are doing.
Not all greenlanes are 2 foot of mud and 4 foot deep fords.

Go out with some guys on a ramble - nice easy lanes (there are lots around). We have tons south of Basingstoke which would be fine for your motor ( a bit scratchy maybe - but thats all).
I cant see any reason why you shouldnt go greenlaning in your P38. Ok - taking it off a tarmac'd road is inevitably going to make it more prone to getting dirty or wearing out suspension components, but you dont have to take to Pay n Pay sites.

p38s will do extreme stuff too, if any motor sgonna do extreme stuff you have to be prepared to fix it after.I don go around saying series motors are no good cos there leafers!Each motor has it limits, the air suspension is useful off road

Not all repairs have to be expensive, i know of a really good workshop near Capel that are very reasonably priced. All the work on my Disco was done by one of them. Oh thinking about it, it was me that did the work.

If a P38 is anything like that Jag im breaking, forget it. More wiring than there is chassis. You could wright it off by putting a pen knife through a loom, youd never be able to fix it properly. And thats a 1995 Jag.

Sorry Richard, I just spotted your Hindhead Lanes post, I'd probably be keen for that, can always go to Whaddon another day.

I'd be keen for some clay, but my recovery gear consists of a jack and some ropes, and of course I have AT's not MT's, but I'm keen to figure out what it takes to get my landi stuck

as long as I'm not going to be a hinderance with my AT's.

For everyone whos coming this sunday, we are meeting at the National Trust car park in Hindhead, be there for 11. The some of the lanes that we did last time we will we will do the other way, will give them a complitly different feel. Dont forget to ware boots incase we get stuck in the muddy bit! If youve got waffle boards please bring them, should be fun

The BECM computer thingy is underneath the drivers seats so you have to make sure water don't get inside! steam cleaning the carpets gives a P38 BSE...
