Nathan, had a chat with someone who works at Merlin (might now be Stratstone) Landrovers in DOncaster ... he reckons the first 'fix' would be to replace all the Autobox oil and there's a filter too ... apparently it could be as simple as that! He asked "when it stopped, was it a shuddering sort of stop, or just gave out and no drive immediately? Apparently if it shuddered and vibrated a lot it's almost certainly oil related, but even if it just stopped working it's worth a try.

Gotta be worth £25 (whatever you can get it for) of oil before buying a whole new 2nd hand box ... ;)

had the box pressure tested yeasterday and the bloke reckons theres no pressure at all, there were no shudders noises or anything else just seemed like it had drop into neutral, i thought the transfer box had slipped into neutral but als not that simple.
what is interesting is the garage showed me oil he'd drained off and it was black and ****ty but its still red n clean on the dipstick, spent a couple of hours on it today with G3 and a 240v mop.... couldnt believe the results.
When the next outing? :D

... aaah, well if all the scratches come out it's not all bad then .. ;)

Hope you get the gearbox sorted anyway, and cheaply if possible. ;).

To be fair a couple of those lanes probably weren't ideally suited for a first-time green-lane experience, I think you (both Nath and Tim) coped really well under the circumstances! ;)

However ... I loved it ... So nice to have so many good lanes in such a relatively small area, if I had that many near me I'd call myself pretty fortunate.

Favourite bit for me, I think, was actually the camp-site!! I know I've wild-camped before, but never in Caterpillar tracks!

and such good food ............ ;(
