Following a silly question about tyre sizes I am appealing to all of you to help me make a decision.

I am new to this having only bought my 1972 series 3 SWB a week or so ago.

I am getting a wheel and tyre package in the next few weeks but need help choosing the right one. I have fitted a set of 2" lifting shackles so far but need help choosing the right tyre size. I will be off roaring but only a little and won't be using the car as a daily driver.

Therefore, please can you give me your opinion on which of the following tyres will give my Landy the best look and fitment.

265/75 R16 or 33x12.50 r15

Thanks in advance for any opinions and guidance you can offer.

Jason.

Too wide unless you want to start trimming yer wings, adding arches and struggling to get the turning circle of a small continent.

235/85/16 on a set of Weller 8 spokes with their usual offset (+1'' ?) will bring the tyres out to the line of the bodywork and will just about clear the chassis on full lock.

I just called the wheel and tyre supplier and he has said that the 265 package comes with zero offset on the rims.

He said this should negate the tyres hitting the chassis. Is this correct or is he spinning me a line.

As you have fitted a 2" lift, 9.00 x 16's would work well. They are slightly taller than the 235/85/16's but not quite as wide, so turning circle is still ok. The other advantage of these is that they will raise the gearing slightly, which is a little low on a series.

Slightly taller???? Are you serious? How about over 4" taller.

not quite as wide? I don't think so. 9.00x16 are metric 255/100R16.

There's a huge amount of work to fit 9.00x16 on an 88". I know because I've done it.
