I'm currently 15 and have been restoring my landy for a while now, but I've been looking for insurance prices for when I get to been able to drive i the road, and using confused.com I've realised I'll be looking at £3000 for a standard series 3 diesel, but I've heard that particularly with vw's when you are part of a club a classic beetle worth twice my landy could be as little as £400 for a young driver, is/could that be true ? And if so does this exist for landrovers ??
Thanks Ben

Have a look at the series 2 forum as this question comes up quite a bit and it seems going by the replies that a lot of youngsters get insurance for a fairly decent price.

But you won't get a classic policy if you are under 25 (or 21 with some I believe).

Having said that, forget confused and other online search engines - you need to talk to a specialist who knows Landies then you will start to get more realistic quotes.

as said above, you won't get specialist policies online using price comparison sites...

Try adrian flux, footman james, lancaster, etc.

I know the Triumph Sports Six Club made a special policy for young drivers to be insured on Triumphs with them underwriting it to help get more young people involved, you might find something similar with Land Rover's

Hi i also run a series that is modified, i was 19 when i took out my insurance (20 now) and it was 900 quid fully comp but it is modified and i get full european breakdown service and all year round european cover but yer you can get cheap insurance on a mini at 17 my friends have done it through classic status adrian flux at 700 quid 3rd party but i would rather drive me series 2 every time espically when its 2000 quid for me to get insured in a euro box and i cant have the fun i do in my old 2a and i rebuilt my series 2a and after i had finished i hated seeing her sat there outside my house it killed me knowing the blood sweat tears etc that went in to it and i could not enjoy it so i insured her and then i moved out to poland and i now work as a4x4 tour guide in the ountains i wish you all the luck in getting your series finished and good luck with your insurance and yer its best if you phone them direct
