Hi there i have booked my test and am confident that I should (fingers crossed ) be driving in a couple weeks of months. I have been offered a great deal on a 1990 defender 3 seats pick up value of approx £4000. Now I'm not going to be naive about it as I know insurance at 17 is crazy regardless but i must be able to find a policy for less than the 4-6000 I have been quoted. I am a gamekeeper and I require this type of vehicle for work , flux quoted me over £4k. Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks, although apparently they don't insure young drivers unless a parent has a policy with them. Mm I think I'm going to have to get my mum to change to them ! Aha

Hope you can get something. Insewerants is a rip off. It seemed bad when I was young - my first car cost me £30 to insure! (But I only earned 30/- a week on a paper round whilst I was still at school).

Hi,

Would you mind sending me a PM with your details? I can then take a look at the quote to double check if there is anything else that can be done to reduce the costs.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Bl***y H**l That's ridiculous. As suggested, try NFU and maybe ask around other guys doing similar work who they use.

Minimum for flux for 17 year olds seems to be about £2.5K. Try aviva as a van, do a search on here and you'll work out how to do it. I'm gonna be sorting mine out with aviva in the next month and my quote is 1300

Don't know if this is any use to you but I'm 18 and am insured on a 90 300tdi through aviva for about £1350, and its my policy not me as a named driver so I'm earning no claims.
