It was a cool morning so the neighbor turned on the heater. The windows steamed up, temp guage went up and coolant started leaking from the rear corners of the front doors. It parks on a nose high slope. We filled the coolant tank with water after it cooled down and moved it to my house. Reading the manual it looks like the probable cause is blown "O" ring(s) where the heater tubes enter the heater core or corroded heater core.

Where the heck is the heater? I pulled the glove box and found the blower. The manual referes to the body portion of the manual and starts talking about removing the steering column, center console and facia which I think means dash panel. Is that for real? What am I up against?

Yes, it has a padded dash. I removed the heater coolant diverter and hoses to the heater pipes under the bonnet. Disconnected both cables from the battery to avoid an accidental launch of the SRS devices. Moving slowly so I don't destroy antique parts. Finding out when the dealer looses screws or scrivits they don't go to the hardware store to replace them. Damn the curse of perfectionism! Looks like the removal of the center counsel will be a challenge as well as the steering column.
