Yet another what tyre thread

I'm pretty new to the forum althouh I have used it a few times to find out solutions to problems with my Defender so thanks for the help.

Now, back onto topic, my Defender is now due some new tyres. I use it for a lot of towing with various trailers but mainly an Ifor CT166 tiltbed. This entails a lot of on road driving to get from place to place but also quite a bit in fields, muddy lanes, farmers yards etc so I need some good all terrain tyres.
I think I've narrowed it down to either the BFGoodrich AT or General AT2.

Just want to know which people prefer, think is best, bad experiences with either, how good in wet etc.

Simply put you'll get a bit more mileage out of the BFG's (harder compound), but as the Grabbers are cheaper you'll get 5 tyres for the price of 4 BFG's. Had you bothered to search this out 1st I would be now re-filling my glass with JD instead of typing this

I'vew got General Grabbers on at the moment and they are awful in the wet with the trailer on so just wondered what the AT2's were like and if they were any better

Both are fantastic tyres, I've had Grabber AT2's for quite a while now, they wear evenly, I've not got stuck in mud, sand, snow or deep gravel, have improved the handling of my Disco over normal road tyre's & I've had no grip issue's in the wet. If money is an issue get the Grabbers, but be warned, a lot of stockists have them on back order due to demand.

Money not too important if there is a big difference in quality. A local dealer can get a set of four of both types for Friday if I let him know tomorrow.

Like I said previously main difference is that the BFG's have a slighter harder compound so will give a bit more mileage, Grabber's will give 50k if treated well. Member's on here have been using the BFG's for years and swear by them, but there are a lot of us using the Grabber's without complaint too.
