just to add to my range rovers poor reliability record starting to go downhill again after a brief spell of enjoyment ccheque book symbol has started to come on intermittantly
fault reads compressor clutch cct (control circuit fault) fault is present strange as there is no gas in the system hasent been for a while and has only started doing it any ideas where to start?
fusebox and all relays are new if that helps!

Compressor Clutch "Open circuit" fault is down to no/low refrigerant in 99.9% of cases. It is common for the book symbol not to be displayed in some cases for low pressure faults.
If the compressor cuts in occaisionally, especially in warm weather, there is a good chance that the gas level is low. The clutch operation is signalled by pressure switches located by the dryer which is behind the front bumper on the LH side of the car.

strange as it has not had gas in it for at least a year and its only just started bringing up the symbol perhaps after all my wiring repairs new fusebox etc it has started to notice it!

Or maybe the wiring harness has rubbed through on the chassis where it goes to the switches on the dryer:eek:

fair point as i have been using it for some light offroading!:) will add it to the list of things to do over the next few days, gearbox overhaul, in tank pump, replace injection pump and headlight wiper blades!
