P38A Yellow ABS warning, no error massage in info centre

Hi Again,

Have just re-fitted my instrument cluster having replaced all the bulbs and went for a wee installation drive today.

The yellow ABS lamp comes on and goes off as usual but now comes back on.

There’s no warning on the information screen (other than a brake light being out) and the braking system seems to be working fine.

im awaiting delivery of a nanocom which no doubt will tell necc be what’s afoot but I wondered whether any of you find folk might have encountered something like this before ?

could it be as simple as a brake light ? (Couldn’t be *that* lucky !) or some worn front pads ? (If they have a wear sensor ?)

Any help or advice most grateful as the owner’s handbook is a little vague !

Both ABS lights need to come on. If one is blown then the other one lights up

Isn't it just SRS that has 2 bulbs?

Ah, no the bulbs in the dash are all good (I’m assuming you mean the red one next to it).
The only warning I get in the info section is of a blown RH brake light (which I’ll replace
In the morning), no other mention of ABS fault.

I’m wondering if the voltage is a little marginal as it’s been sitting a while and there’s an occasional Alternator warning too.

When I had a dicky connection to a bulb I had to clear the error with the Nanocom before it went out.

Alternator warning is usually a sign of poor earthing somewhere (assuming the alternator is in fact OK). You may also get the gearbox error or overheat as well for the same reason.

Faulty batteries or alternators can trigger abs/airbag faults. Check your alternator output at the alternator live output and alternator body. Then continuity test the earth, battery to chassis, alt body to chassis and alt to battery. your nanocom will reveal any faults like a wheel sensor.

Could also try pushing all abs sensors home in the hubs ,they will space themselves when wheels start turning ,if you have a bad bearing with some play in it ,it can mess with the spacing
