Good day all

Please help. I love my Disco, but tired of the wine.
It is a 1996 V8i

My Xfer box makes a high pitch noise when I get to 90km/h and silences again at 110km/h. Is this common?
I have replaced the oil in the box with thicker oil and replaced all the bearings as well as sand blasted all the gears and it still does it under load only.

Thanks:doh:

FFS spambob squarepants is at it again. A bit of whining never did anyone any harm I'd rather listen to a transfer box than the missus anyday.

Sure there was a scruffy lookin bloke outside asda this morning selling transfer boxes for 175 quid delivered. They must be this xmas's new craze. C'mon everybody snap em up you don't want your kids to be the only ones without a second hand tranny box on xmas morning:D:D:D

Well with a diesel you also have no power. I have a good sub and amp that takes away the whine, problem no one can talk.
No oil addetives or something ?

They can have a tendency to whine however, try swapping your tyres around I have often found the wear pattern can set up a whine at certain speeds. Differentials can aso whine with the sound travelling up the props confusing it's origin, you could try running around with one of the propshafts off and see if there is any difference in the sound and the swap in/out the other shaft. Other than that check the levels and leave it well alone.

regards

Dave

The wine has been proven from the Xfer box in High range only. I have replaced all bearings, sand blasted all gears and replaced with thicker oil.
