i have a problem with the the auto box on my series 2 disco. the m and s lights come on if you go from forward to reverse sometimes not always. also i cannot start the car in neutral. if i switch off the ignition and restart the lights go out. could this be the wxyz switch?

You'll need diagnostics but that's wot I had on my p38 the early ones had a breather tube if the tube comes off they fill with ****e the later ones are sealed

check with a code reader but It does sound like the XYZ switch, water from the air con runs over the switch, There is a modification that you can do if you look up above the switch you will see a drain tube for the A/C pull the drain valve out of the end and extend the tube past the switch the and refit the valve, you will then need a new switch which is set in position with a special locating tool.
