Hello, I have a 2.0 Diesel Freelander on a T Plate. I had the gearbox changed a while back and since then been running high on the rev's in each gear. I hardly use 1st gear as i can now pull off in 2nd. I heard this problem might be that i fitted a second hand petrol gearbox by mistake.

I'm new to the site ao any advice will be great.
Thanks
Kev

If the motor doesn't redline at 70mph then maybe you should just leave as is. You'll probably find it accelerates a little better albeit at the expense of a couple of mpg.

I guess the petrol version will be lower geared, it having less torque.

This is copied from the rave manual......

Two different variants of the PG1 gearbox are
available, standard or uprated. They are identified
externally by the gearbox number prefix, S4EM
prefix for standard gear box, and S7EMU for the
uprated gearbox. With the difference in gearbox
output drive ratios, the output shaft and final drive
gears are not interchangeable.

S4EM - 1.8 petrol engine model
S7EMU - Diesel engine model
