My house is set back about 15/20 mtrs away from a busy A road and the only time it's quiet is when it's gridlocked.
It's got a 40 limit on the road and the noise is unbearable but a lot of this is to do with the road surface.
I battled for years to get the council to either drop the speed limit to 30,re-surface the road or build a sound deadening structure of some sort but to no avail.
I even proved with the aid of a DB meter that the levels were a LOT higher than acceptable levels but did they do anything,NO.
My kids are going to either grow up deaf or have hearing problems in later life because of the constant noise

Found the article I read it in in Land Rover World
thats talking about 2016 and as yet no information is avalible for 2016, so worry about 2016 in 2015
by 2016 we might not have green lanes or pay and play sites due to heath and safety
