Well after quite a while of having no nearside indicator I thought I would investigate further after no luck elsewhere.

I opened a real can of worms! It turned out I had 3 different bits of wiring looms all bodged in with chocolate blocks and twisted wires! Wires that were not connected at either end. Also loads where the same colour! The icing on the cake was the 2 trailer plugs it had that where destroyed and also bodged!

Overall I sorted it out! Removed un needed crap and cleaned earths as went along. Soldered all joints so no more blocked and twisted wires, shrink wrapped and put it all away nicely instead of wrapped up electric tape and duck tape! Now got all my lights again!

makes your wonder what previous owners we thinking when they did it. Alot of people have the same situation, so there is a fair amount of these wollys out there.
 
I did an emergency repair on my front left flasher wire about two years ago. C u t into the wire near the heater and ran an extra one through the engine bay to the bulb holder. Finally got round to taking the broken wheel arch it was a mess and this had been fully serviced before I bought it so it was a garage job.
 
Just think what else these previous owners might have done to your pride and joy if they can't deal with something simple like wiring, checked your brakes lately?

Wiring isn't simple to every one, Every one has strong and week points.

Personally I don't like wiring much, More to do with the fact that I have no patience.
But would quite happily do mechanical stuff all day.
 
My brakes are good but thanks for your concern lol! Although handbrake needs some major adjustment!

As said before though a lot of people struggle with the wiring side of stuff but yet could easily remove a rear axle. Also to some people wiring blocks might be a good job to them! Not me though solder all main wires and use proper connectors for the lights as you quite often need to replace them.

I still need to tackle the hazard switch which don't work! Every time you put it on it stop all indicators and the power disappears :confused: but yet doesn't blow a fuse? I'm slowly getting on top of the gremlings!
 
When ever i buy a second hand car more so a LAND ROVER :) i always pull apart to check for home job wiring. Land rovers seem to never run enough fuses on their systems, and poor wiring can create fires.
I had some one twist the wires together for trailer wiring right where it enters the chassis on my 110. If there was ever someone i wanted to hit, that would have been the person.

I had exactly the same fault and was reliably informed that the switch was knackered, so I bought a new switch - turned out to be the wires were the wrong way around!

Test your wires at the switch to see if they're live when the switch is in the on position, if not and only then replace the switch. :)
